Learning about whisky from the experts...
Dan Humphrey (Summerton Whisky Club Founder) poses the question for industry expert, Mike Fisher (English Whisky Co. Sales Director):

What whisky would you give to a friend as their first bottle? And why?

“Firstly, as a true Yorkshireman I cannot imagine giving a bottle to someone, however if I suddenly turned over a new leaf here’s my thoughts.

Lots of whiskies come to mind, from our own range I’d be looking at the Triple Distilled, beautifully smooth, creamy and a long, delicious finish, it always seems to hit the spot from Whisky newbie to hardened veteran.

Auchentoshan Three Wood is one I often bring out when people I’m not too sure of the crowd, it’s sweet, full of fruit cake fruitiness and smooth as can be.

Finally, sometimes you’ve just got to take a risk and throw someone in at the deep end, I find that Lagavulin 16yo can be make or break as an introduction to whisky, for me it was make, however it was also affordable back then!

Here is the beautiful thing about whisky, asked for one whisky I’ve provided 3, I could have gone with 50 or more, depending on the mood of the day when answering, that’s the magic that turns people into whisky fans, I strongly believe that you’ll never taste your favourite whisky, as the journey to find it is so bloody good!”
